AllenDivers I watched both discs of melty lancer yesterday.. a solid dub, despite
a predictable script

AllenDivers its an ok show.. 6 episodes, light on deep plot, but solid with action
and comedy
AllenDivers one of gonzo's first works, so a strange mix of cgi and traditional
animation.. bright colors, stereotypical characters
Nijhazer Definitely mixed reviews on that one...
Shinobi it's a gonzo show eh...
AllenDivers from a historical standpoint, its nice to see this show as them
cutting their teeth on integrating cgi into their work.. you can see they have a
lot more confidence by the time they hit vandread

AllenDivers it depends.. its like needless nudity in a film.. does it help the
story along, if so, then its not gratuitous
Nijhazer Well, when you hear the word "fanservice" you generally think of women in
lingerie bending over with huge boobs hanging out and such. Generally I find it
inappropriate.

Nijhazer In Chobits it's disappointing. In Magic User's Club OVA it was highly
annoying.
Arxane I often had trouble watching Ghost in the Shell because of the nudity...but
it's not exactly fanservice, is it?

Huntressfan I didn't care too much for the fanservice in Real Bout High School. Of
course the fact that the whole series didn't seem to have a plot didn't help...

Arcturus I'm okay with some fanservice if it's for humorous purposes...but I don't
really care for the really blatant stuff.

a bit over the top, but helped the humor.. in hand maid mai, well...
Nijhazer I guess it can be funny, but often I just find that it's done for the
sake of doing it, without regard to the nature of the characters involved

naive, not knowing much, wanting to be kind and learn more about herself
AllenDivers chobits is a strange show.. it really shouldn't have been a 26 episode
series.. so it suffers from the fact they felt they needed to throw in filler to
pad out the story
Arxane When a girl's breasts are drawn twice the size of her head, you have to
wonder where she gets the upperbody strength to hold them up
Arxane Like in Mouse or Amazing Nurse Nanako
Nijhazer So when they put her in a room and have her strip over the Internet, I
find that highly disturbing and inappropriate...

Nijhazer I think that in a lot of cases, it's easier to accept an anime in
Japanese because we don't understand what is being said if the subtitles are
off... without speaking the language how can one truly hear the emotion, the
character, in the voice? So the Japanese would be emotionally void for us and
therefore we could adapt to it more easily (perhaps)
